We love that Austin kids play everything. Football, basketball, soccer, cheer, martial arts, mountain bikes on
the greenbelt. We are also the people families call after the collision, and we can tell you a knocked out
permanent tooth is a lifelong commitment. It means restorations, replacements, and maintenance for
decades. All of it traceable to one unlucky moment that a mouthguard would have absorbed.
Dental injuries are among the most common injuries in youth sports, and among the most preventable. A
properly fitted guard cushions impacts, spreads the force across all the teeth, and protects lips and cheeks
from cuts. It is the cheapest insurance in sports.

Why fit is everything
Store bought guards fail for one predictable reason. They fit poorly, so athletes do not wear them, or they
chew on them, pop them out, or park them in their helmet. A guard on the sideline protects exactly nothing.
A custom guard is molded from impressions of your athlete’s actual teeth. It snaps into place and stays there,
allows normal breathing and talking, and does not trigger gagging the way bulky generic guards can. When a
guard is comfortable, it gets worn every practice and every game, and worn is the only state in which any of
this works.

Not every sport hits the same, so not every guard should be the same. We adjust thickness and materials
based on age, sport, and contact level. A hockey player and a point guard need different protection. Growing
kids need guards checked as their mouths change, which we do at their regular visits.
Athletes with braces need custom protection more than anyone, since a blow to the mouth can drive brackets
into lips and cheeks. We design guards that fit safely over orthodontic hardware and keep everything,
including the investment in those braces, protected.

Two short visits and your athlete is covered. We take impressions at the first, and the finished guard is ready
shortly after, fitted and adjusted until it feels like nothing at all. Pick a color, or a few. That part is non
negotiable for most of our younger patients.
